For sure. There is a hobby aspect that makes it enjoyable for people, just like horses or a boat. I can understand that use case.
I think the narrative that everyone should run their own lightning node is maybe not the correct way to view it. Bitcoin nodes, yes. It would be great for every user to run one. Lightning is different.
