A simple explanation as to why a "Ministry of Truth" may not be such a great idea...

I posted this a while ago, but given some of the recent developments around the world, I think it is an appropriate time for a reminder.
BTW. I'm quite certain that the proliferation of AI generated deepfakes will be the next step in trying to convince people of the "need for censorship." Yes, it will probably get crazy. Yes, fake news and false narratives will become even easier to create & spread. Yes, scammers will probably be able to call you, mimic your spouse/child/close friend and try to convince you that there is an emergency and that you need to send them money (most likely in an irreversible manner i.e. Bitcoin or Monero) ASAP. But, again, a central organization to govern over data is not the solution. The solution is common sense and a healthy dose of skepticism.
Here's a caveman-type method to avoid such pickles in the future:
1) Get your family together
2) Leave your phones in the house/car* (yes, leave them, if you can't remove the battery you can't be sure they're off) and go in the middle of a forest or anywhere else where there's no people nor electronics around
3) Agree on a "safe word" that you would use whenever there's an ACTUAL emergency
* this is a “worst case” type of scenario in which we would assume that the scammers\AI have hacked\gotten access to the person’s devices, or at the very minimum, messenger app(s) as well
Simplistic? Yes. Paranoid? Maybe. But I would rather be paranoid for a reason than carefree for no reason.
Stay wild & stay free, my friends ❤️🤠
