the big problem here is: what corpos want to sell me is often worse in functionality, interoperability and privacy than what I can hack up myself. Of course, I have no guarantee that my code will work, but it’s tailor-made to fit my purpose and work well for it.
If anything, I’m paying for the software with my own time. Which, at least for me, is an acceptable currency
