How decentralized is Nostr
I’ve been working on a relays scanner to be able to pick a list of relays to work through.
Along the way I discussed my vision with people who were mostly relay operators. The main thing I learned is in addition to a scanner it was important to connect to a single relay, as @dasiyes pointed out, to get more precise ping. Plus, I wanted to add a simple map that you could click on it and get the stats.
cappynate@nostrplebs.com brought my attention to How Decentralized is NOSTR. You can see his chart here: nevent1qqs9w23gkahfq7j8k7nhc9cz6lv3qng390rnxwvz6rmef3vz574q2kspzpmhxue69uhk2tnwdaejumr0dshsygqclnqnn9g2nn8rlmj7un60gme78u8r8qnhmnyte45jk08qa9qgfcpsgqqqqqqsp8xxma.
The only problem with that is it shows Nostr through relays, while in fact it would be better to see data centers from which relays are operating. With this in mind, I have made an interactive decentralization map and a table for simpler comparison.
How to use it:
There might be bugs, but I hope you’ll find it useful.
